Thing is, there was expressions of sexuality in Christian culture, up until recent times, among the very poor. Obviously, sex between the parents was something that was viewed frequently (especially when there would be several children, due to lack of birth control), and probably taken for granted.

I guess that is why American middle class types are so uptight about it, they don't wanna be reminded of how poor people live or how close they might be to sinking back to poverty. their middle-class prudishness is a mental shield of sorts.

Could very well be - especially if their ancestors had been the poor, and fear going back to that.

and it could be why the upper class the world over, generally is not as prudish at least amongst themselves.

That makes sense.

When I was 12 my parents and I visited Montreal, and one evening we took a long walk through the city, where we saw publicly displayed pictures of women baring their breasts nipples and all. I was surprised to see this and my parents explained that it was because Americans are way too squeamish about that sort of thing and it's sad because there was nothing wrong about such displays.

Looking back and seeing also that America is the porn capital of the world with viewership heaviest in red states, I would say many Americans are sanctimonious Pharisees.

The question I'd like to sincerely ask Christians is; why should we all be ashamed of expressing our sexuality?

Speaking as a Christian, we shouldn't. Even the Bible celebrates sex and sexuality in the Song of Songs. Of course, there's a line to be drawn between sex with a loving partner and, say, engaging in wild orgies (which is fine if that's your thing, it's just not a Christian pastime), but innate sexuality shouldn't be associated with guilt, and it's a shame that many people are taught this.

Why is it more abominable to witness a same-sex couple express their sexuality than than to witness a brother-and-sister couple have sex in which can actually (and quite literally) produce abominations?

I'm the wrong person to answer this because my upbringing and present theology was and is LGBT-inclusive, so my answer is, of course, it isn't. Though, even among my more conservative friends, I don't know any who'd say that incest is less of an offense...religious-based reasons or not, anyone who gives a thumbs-up to an incestuous relationship has a skewed sense of priorities, and to compare such to a consensual same-sex relationship is ridiculous.

It never really was about sex, it actually about the status of person over animals. The prudism we see nowadays is a new thing, so yes, we are freaking out too much about it.

One would think public nudity would be allowed up there.

Sometimes clothing is about protecting the body from the elements and not being prudish. You don't want Jack Frost nipping at your genitals. In hot climates with bugs, you don't want gnats in the snatch.Just imagine mosquitos biting a wanky, not what most men want going on down there. Also protection from thorns and bright sun might be needed.
Nothing shameful about the human body, but I don't want someone sitting on my couch with a bare ass.

You are very brave then! :wtg: No one would want to see me nekkid, plus I am too shy to do it, especially somewhere as public as a town. And ya you better wear slippers, sore feet are the worst!
