I cannot risk any more accusations of "belittling" someone by explaining the invalidity of their beliefs.

Believe what you will, and let that belief lead you where it will.  I do not care any more.

As much of your input here has been quite enjoyable to follow . Without your writings here to this site . Would have been a much less lively of a site . Thank you for those same writings . Pardon any offense , I may have. Inadvertently caused .

There's a really cool hack for getting around that - engaging a conversation substantively. Belittling comes from a perception of strawmanning and the trick is don't strawman.

I am interested in their brainwashing techniques. I have few Druze friends, my mother’s best family is Druze (and her daughters were childhood friends to us) - they’re very secretive about their faith tho but I do recall their reincarnation stories.

Concern the Bridey Murphy case ?
Am not aware if that was ever debunked . It is a very old case supporting reincarnation . Concerning a younger American girl. And her detailed recollections of a life of a woman in England , that was able to be documented .

Fnord brought up the debunking of the Bridey Murphy ( see above)

As for my out of body experience , was merely practicing some deep relaxation techniques , that had learned
Then realizing was no longer feeling my own body. Laying in a bed , and having practiced these techniques for some months . Was absolutely shocked back into complete awareness of my own body , when having done this deep relaxation techniques,(this particular time ) and suddenly realized was looking down on my body in the bed , approximately from a vantage point of about , what was approximately 8 ft above my own body . Later had read such a thing was a possibility , when engaged in a deepen state of relaxing ones own body . As a possible experience
Not claiming this as a exploit but rather just sharing a experience .
Have had some weird experiences in my own life considering what is on the perimeter of what one might expect, the normal reality might be .

If there’s reincarnation, you probably don’t have a choice in the matter...if the gods want your soul to fill the body of a grasshopper, so be it.

according to edgar cayce et al, there is no retrograde transmigration of spirit. it is only forwards, or as the persian mystic Rumi said-
I died as a mineral and became a plant;
I died as a plant and rose to animal;
I died as animal and I was a man.
Why should I fear? When was I less by dying?
Yet once more I shall die as man to soar
With angels blest. Yet even from an angel
I must pass on; All except God must perish.
When I have sacrificed my angel soul,
I shall become what no mind ever conceived.

Have you never been a parent?  It's easy to coach kids into believing anything -- remember Santa Claus?  Adults can even coach kids into believing that getting naked and making porn is a normal childhood thing to do -- this disgusting process is called "grooming".

What's the difference between telling a kid that he left his brother's hand-me-down 21st-century jacket in the car and telling the same kid that he left the 18th-century toys they inherited from their great-grandparents' in the attic?

Actually Fnord it's a real phenomena and is taken seriously by psychologists
https://www.psychologytoday.com/au/blog ... past-lives

One of the interesting observations is that the memory of the past life fades after the child turns 6 years old.

Hindu mysticism and polytheism was present in the middle east prior to islam transmitted westward from western India via Iran into the middle east. After islam the groups who followed hindu beliefs became more careful not to be overt such as the Druze, Bahai, Yazidi and Zoroastrians as they all faces potential persecution for their beliefs.

The one exception are the whirling Dervishes of Turkey and muslim provinces in Bulgaria who follow a type of hindu transcendental meditation involving using movement to induce trance (this is still practiced by yogis and nagas in India).

This reminds me of sleep paralysis - which I had few times.

But I don’t see self in sleep paralysis; but I see the room around, hearing the vibrations of my ears and incapable of any movement - it does feel it’s not your body anymore. I read some experience other visuals; such seeing a “demon” on chest or seeing self.

Maybe the deep relaxation technique went too far, cutting some oxygen for a moment and putting you in a kinda sleep paralysis mode? Sleep paralysis occurs between the sleep and wake up phase.

Interesting discussion of skepticism in this context:
