This is pretty straightforward, and it's something I talk about plenty on a different forum, but I thought I'd throw it into this community, see what happens.

What is your favourite Marvel comic book series, and why?

Mine is, perhaps unsurprisingly, Uncanny X-Men. I read it till about issue 500, (2008). My favourite stories are basically anything before #400. I even like the much derided 90s issues. I liked the soap operatic qualities of Lobdell's writing, I enjoyed Seagle and later Alan Davis. My all time favourite period would have to be the early to mid 80s, though. I liked the dynamic between Kitty, Nightcrawler, Storm, Colossus, and Wolverine. They really felt like a family, with Storm as big sis/mother hen, Wolverine big bro, Nighty middle child, Colossus little bro, and Kitty the baby. Then later they brought in Rogue and Rachel, and the dynamic shifted to big sis, middle sis,.little sis being Rogue/Rachel/Kitty. This was also when X-Men got real political and played up the discrimination metaphor. You had great stories like Rogue: Public Enemy, Lifedeath, and Madness. I really liked that the X-Men were fighting something non-tangible, namely intolerance, which imo set them apart from other superheroes.

Thor, X-Men, and very old titles featuring the original Human Torch, The Submariner, Aarkus (the first Vision), etc., even though I've only read a couple and they're very hard to find.

X-Men (most of the older stuff, 80s and 90s)

Spider-Man (just about anything really)

Avengers

Earth X (and its sequels)

Fantastic Four (I miss this series and I'm still surprised its not a series anymore. FF is the first family of Marvel, they deserve a series always IMO)

Thunderbolts (mainly old stuff back when it was more surprising)

What If

most of the Marvel crossover events that feature nearly everyone! (Infinity Gauntlet, Secret Wars, Invasion, etc)

Plus many more. I'm a huge Marvel fan, I'll read almost any title.

Don't read comics much, but some time ago I started reading Deadpool.

Probably should remember to carry on at some point.

As a kid, I used to love the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, Spiderman, the Incredible Hulk, The X Men, Iron Fist, Marvel Two-In-One (the Thing with a different superhero each month), Super Villain Team-Up (Almost always Dr. Doom and usually Namor), as well as Conan the Barbarian, and Howard the Duck, as well as Creepy, Eerie, and Rook.

Today, I don't read nearly as many comics, but I still gravitate to Howard the Duck, Creepy, and Eerie.

Golden Age and Mostly Silver Age for me.

Really loved those Creepy and Eerie magazines too. Loved the whole Warren line of magazines.

Lot of really, really good artists.

Wrightson, Frazetta, Esteban Moroto, Bode'.....truly great stuff there.
