When I was browsing Google one day, and decided to look up autism, and after a few searches I came across a thread from WP that I could relate to so much, so I clicked on post reply, which I then had to register to continue. I registered in haste, (hence my "masculine" username), just to post in one thread, not intending to actually become a regular member. But then I somehow became more frequent, but I don't remember how.

Now it's 6 years later. Wow.

This place would be much better if people stopped being so damn pushy.

In what ways do you mean specifically?

I don't find people here pushy any more than anywhere else. There's a certain bluntness to the way some people communicate that sometimes seems a little too forthright on first reading, and I can sound like a pompous ass myself at times - but I try to remember that it's usually just a different communication style rather than malice (aside from one little outburst while I was settling in - sorry Fnord!)

Anyhow, how did I find out about WrongPlanet.

When the possibility of me being autistic was first suggested, the psychologist asked me to take a look at the National Autistics Society website to see if I recognised any of the traits (the NAS is the main UK autism charity - it's a first point of contact for a lot of us over here). Because I already liked forums as a form of communicating with people who share my special interests, I clicked through a few links and ended up here. After a bit of lurking, I decided I really liked it, and decided to dive in.

I had heard of it before, from a book or something, and had always wanted to join. One day I was browsing another forum when I came across a link to WP. I clicked on it, lurked around for a little while, decided to join, and the rest is history.

Googled "Aspergers forum".

I have been on a couple of other forums and like them.

I had a question about autism and I googled it and someone had already asked it on a forum so I was brought here. I read through all the comments that people said and I decided to join in case I had a question again since people here have a lot of good advice.
