Quote:
Ford died this morning after battling cancer since 2014. ...
It was a testament to his common touch that even as Ford faced a growing number of controversies related to drug use, public drunkenness and racist and sexist comments, many voters in the so-called "Ford Nation" continued to stand by him.

He, in turn, remained committed to them.

Sad. RIP

I am interested to see how the media reacts to this. He was one of those politicians you either loved or hated with every fiber of your being.

“He was, above all else, a profoundly human guy whose presence in our city will be missed.”
Premier Kathleen Wynne noted that “Rob Ford grew up in a family with a strong tradition of political involvement and community service. And he upheld that tradition throughout his life.”
“Uncle Rob, You have fought the good fight long enough and now can rest in peace. Love you and will forever miss you,” Ford’s nephew, Toronto District School Board trustee Michael Ford wrote on Twitter.
Ford underwent surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in May 2015, what was then considered his last chance to survive pleomorphic liposarcoma.

One channel (I use that word loosely) put out an attack article basically after the news that he had passed away.

Even though I didn't like the guy or his views, it sucks that he died. 46 is a young age.

A man who could be his own worse enemy, and who was at the mercy of his own addictions and bad behavior. That said, his constituents loved him, and he loved them, and that's something. RIP.

It's sad that this guy's own demons took his career and ultimately his life as we all watched and laughed at him, he was a man of the people(even Somali crack dealers) and loved his city. He was genuine, a real person, if only we had more politicians like that. Cancer is such a terrible thing, it's stolen so many.

RIP Rob Ford!

RIP Rob Ford. Love him or hate him, he was a man that was devoted to his city and his job. Cancer sucks. :(

It's possible that he used crack because he knew he didn't have long to live.

I'm really sad to hear this. I liked this guy, and would have voted for him had I lived in the area.

RIP - you can take all the crack you want up there, big fella.

At least no-one will call him a fat f*ck up there.

I can't honestly say that he was a good politician, but he was definitely quite the character, and I admired him for that. It sucks that he went at such a young age. :( I think the world would be a happier place if more politicians were open about their substance abuse habits and other vices.

It's sad that the man died.

But somebody involved in drugs is liable to be someone involved with unsavory characters.

That can't happen if you're the major of a large city.
