I'm sitting here with a bunch of stuff literally within arm's reach but all I do is sit here and click on the same bookmarks waiting for something interesting to be uploaded or written, posted or tweeted.

I feel like my brain is keeping me from getting up and doing something.

"You just sit right there until your wife gets home, mister!"

I don't know what's going on with that.

Executive Functioning difficulties are common for people on the Autism Spectrum
What Is Executive Functioning?

Quote:
The executive functions are a set of processes that all have to do with managing oneself and one's resources in order to achieve a goal. It is an umbrella term for the neurologically-based skills involving mental control and self-regulation.

One process is initiation
Quote:
Initiation - The ability to begin a task or activity and to independently generate ideas, responses, or problem-solving strategies.

Is this a recent problem or a problem that has gotten worse lately?. If so it might be what is informally known as "Autistic burnout". It is excerbated by trying to "pretend to be normal" over a period of time.

I have the problem that you have OP. Even when I was very active in my daily life I would experience bouts of it. Right now I am quite depressed also, so functioning is crap anyways, but even at times when I am not it is always kind of, lurking there. I'm also not diagnosed with asd, I have some traits, this particular one being one of them.

Not feeling motivated to start things is a common problem of almost everyone on earth.
The key is to not give in to it, in my opinion.
The first step is get up and away from the computer.
Then, start doing any item on the list of things to do.
Over time, you can form a habit of being able to initiate better.
