Who are your favorite visual artists? I'm discovering that I really like Monet:

I chose to analyze this one for an art survey class I'm taking. It's in a museum downtown here. Someone here once said something about wanting to live in a drawing that someone made. That's how I feel about paintings like this. I feel like I want to be sucked into it and be surrounded by its complexity and colors and ambience.

I've always been a huge fan of Dali and surrealism in general also. I like being pulled out of reality.

This is the cover of a Nurse with Wound album. I also really like his music but I think the Dada he uses on his album covers are at least as interesting, and there's not really any other musician I would say that of, except for maybe Beck, but his music is less interesting.

yay Dali!

I think my favorite artists are Michaelangelo and Delacroix. Da Vinci too, though it's so cliche...large format oil is definately my favoite style. I mostly like paintings that depict a story...so anything up through Romanticism, mostly.

I like Escher, though it is more graphic design than art, also surrealism.

I'm not so keen on Dali because his pictures really confuse me. Nearly all of the artists I wrote about I have seen exhibitions of (except 1 and 5).

i love dali, i think hes my absolute favorate, and i think "metamorphosis of Narcissus" is the best picture in the world. i saw it in london tate and is a lot smaller than expected but just gorgeous. i hope im not the only one who is fascinated with picture frames, especially those that contain images from the pre - raphealite era - theyr so gold and shiny :oops: with the little floral motifs theyr so cute!!

also aurbrey beardsley and mucha - art nouveau is still highly indevidual and succedded in its attempt to appear as if it hasnt stemmed from another art movement. (though i reckon is slightly came from the arts and crafts movement that came before it. i particulary like muchas a ttemt of using mathematics and linear graphs so create the swirly swishy movements of the subjects hair
