I like Alien a little better- even though the movie series went downhill after the 2nd movie, in my view.

Tough call. Why not both? :)

Alien. I found all 4 movies decidedly more exciting than Predator 1 and 2.

I wish they did better with the crossovers.

Crossovers? Plural? I didn't know there was more than one Alien vs Predator.

Yeah, they made two movies, but neither one was very good.

I wouldn't know about the second movie, but I agree that the first one wasn't too impressive.

Alien, the first two films are still great to watch.

I still watch the first predator film, but the others are just rank rotten.

The movies, series, or creature?

If I had to choose between the movies, Alien is a better film, while it was largely just a thriller with some of the best reveal scenes. The vent part is plain awesome where it ends with the creature, I really kind of wan to beat more of Alien Isolation that keeps the same tone, but I get easily scared. Between the creatures, well since I adopted the predator into some of my gaming and internet handle, I think prefer Yautja (predator's species), although I do think the Xenomorph is also cool, and fun to play in some Alien vs Predator games.

For the series in general, I think it is a little spotty. Alien is intense while Aliens is a cool action movie, and the follow up movies are not that great with things like killing cast off-screen and clone thing. Predator is an alright action movie, Predator 2 take it to good adult place and the city setting making it close to the first but a different setting, and Predators was also a pretty nice action movie and setting. Alien vs Predator is a movie I like, especially with how it is Aliens fighting Predators, and the single Predator in the sequel is a badass, although the Alien side gets quite graphic. I kind of also consider Prometheus to be an Alien film, and it is a movie I quite like unlike other people, and I think it tips the Alien series in the favour.

I had no idea it was a series as well.

If we're talking creatures, then I'd prefer to be Predator if I ever had to fight in a war, but I find the alien creature a much cooler monster. It is the stuff of nightmares, and as a horror lover, I mean that in a good way.

I think Alien is the better film, both 1 and 2 are very good and I consider them both classics for different reasons as obviously they're very different from eachother whilst exploring the same story seed.

Predator is a great film too but it's not quite as eerie or masterful in its execution, the story is pretty straightforward and there's not too many bells and whistles but it isn't meant to be anything but a rollicking stomp through the jungle anyway.

I prefer the predator as a creature because it's quite mischevious and has these peculiar dreadlocks, there's a hint at a personality, of course it's a horrible personality but it's something, the alien is one cold calculating sleek silent wraith (until they become the horde of shrieking fiends in number 2 haha) and I just prefer the predator because it shows more pizazz and energy but I know the whole point of the alien is to be a devastating jack in the box and its whole nature is being a predator whilst predator relies on technology more than natural instincts.

To me they're apples and oranges as to what type of things they are, or at least started out to be. Within their respective genres, I like them equally for what they were designed for.
