do you have to have verbal and non verbal communication issues in order to be diagnosed with autism?

I just checked the diagnostic criteria and having non-verbal communication problems is a requirement for getting a diagnosis of ASD level 1 but verbal communication problems is required only for an ASD level 2 or 3 diagnosis. It is customary to state weather language impairment (and intellectual impairment) is present along side the diagnosis.

Nope. There are plenty of autistic kids at my school who have no difficulty being verbal.
Delayed speech development and nonverbal pertain more to what is called classic autism.
Especially level 2 moderate and level 3 severe autism.

since i have autism and language issues.

would i be consider classic autism and not aspergers?

is classic autism severe? or can classic be mild as well.

I have no non-verbal spouts, I'm diagnosed. So unless the psychologist got her license token away no.
