no, it wouldn't have stopped Trump.
Trump tapped into the angry GOP voter who feels betrayed by their party.
Obviously Trump will screw them hard if he wins the GE.

Nothing could have stopped Trump. Conditions were ripe for a populist, politically incorrect, bully to win the Republican nomination. This has been obvoius for awhile but that only Trump both figured this out and knew how to take advantage of this is evidence of why conditions were ripe.
