I feel like I'm going crazy. My friend Julia just told me about this. I know Forrest Gump said "Life IS like a box of chocolates". And I know Jiffy peanut butter was NOT Jif!

They are calling it the Mandela Effect. Can anyone explain this phenomenon please? There are even Bible changes. Are we going through a time warp like the Twilight Zone? Are these changes satanic? What? How is this happening?!

Take this test!

I found this. They have a word in psychiatry.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confabulation

Wikipedia redirects searches for "Mandela Effect" to their article on "Confabulation".

Quote:
In psychiatry, confabulation (verb: confabulate) is a memory disturbance, defined as the production of fabricated, distorted or misinterpreted memories about oneself or the world, without the conscious intention to deceive. Individuals who confabulate present incorrect memories ranging from "subtle alterations to bizarre fabrications", and are generally very confident about their recollections, despite contradictory evidence.

...

Confabulation is associated with several characteristics:

1) Typically verbal statements but can also be non-verbal gestures or actions.

2) Can include autobiographical and non-personal information, such as historical facts, fairytales, or other aspects of semantic memory.

3) The account can be fantastic or coherent.

4) Both the premise and the details of the account can be false.

5) The account is usually drawn from the patient’s memory of actual experiences, including past and current thoughts.

6) The patient is unaware of the accounts’ distortions or inappropriateness, and is not concerned when errors are pointed out.

7) There is no hidden motivation behind the account.

8) The patient’s personality structure may play a role in their readiness to confabulate.
Sorta like when a political candidate makes an outrageous and unpopular claim, and then later denies that he said it.

The magic mirror one might just be popular misconception like Kirk never said "beam us up Scotty"

Do you really have a memory of the Disney movie saying the old quote?

You betcha. And I'm not the only one. The whole thing gives me the creeps. I know Forrest Gump said" Life IS like a box of chocolates. " That's been changed! And Jiffy has not always been Jif! Ugh.

And about the Snow White thing, in the film they pointed out the ages because it may have changed at a different time.

Forrest Gump actually said: "Mama said life WAS like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."

I disagree. And I'm not the only one.

He was sitting on the bench at the bus stop in Savannah. I believe he told this to the old lady--though he might have told this to the black woman.

And the Berenstein Bears wasn't Berenstain Bears!
And there's other things. It makes you doubt your own sanity.
