I have played this game so many times and I never knew you could do this. This just blows me away.

Technically we can already kill everybody. I killed the thief once or twice. I prefer to just go ahead and finish the quest. It's my favorite video game quest of all time.

I actually loved this quest so much that I used "Kafei Quest" as my username for a dating website.

But since when is character death too much for Zelda? Didn't Ganondorf take a sword to the forehead in Wind Waker if my memory serves me right.

It's not character death, it's specifically killing NPCs which are normally invincible.
