Hi,
I have a theory and I want to do some sort of "online study" to see whether I'm right (this poll is the "study")
I read that Autistics can't utilize Tryptophan. This is pretty much proven.
And I read that tryptophan increases Human Growth Hormone (HGH).
So if Autistics can't utilize L-Tryptophan, then, it could be that they have low HGH.
So as a result, they should be kind of thin boned, skinny, probably rather petite have low muscle mass etc.
So please take part in this "study" :D

Possibly Aspie (diagnosed by an autism expert, doc moves abroad, forced to change docs and all say it's schizophrenia NOS or schizo-affective disorde or personality disorders. initial doc was a colleague of uncle Simon btw. you do the math.). (edit: by Uncle Simon I mean Simon Baron Cohen. Just to clear things up.)

Above average height, very strong and on the large size. I don't fit your theory.

Even though I'm petite and short, my arm muscles appear as if I work out.

I have gone to school with autistics my whole life and have seen all different shapes and sizes. Although there are many who are as you describe. For myself I am short for my age and pretty slender. But I also have a lot of muscle tone definition and I have a lot of strength. So it's like when I have a shirt on I look kinda frail. But when I take my shirt off and flex they are like wow look at all those muscles lol.

You can't definitively say how much muscle mass someone has without some form of biometric testing but if we're going off strength alone then I would say mine is low. I wouldn't call myself petite, I have a medium build but I am quite slim at the moment

Well I use to be like 193lbs and now I'm 135lbs, I don't know how low muscle mass is defined but I think I am pretty strong for someone my size and could probably put on muscle fairly easily if I made an effort at it I think(talking out my ass but that's what my mom always told me... ) especially now since I've leaned out so much. Like I can outwrestle my brother who has at least 40-50lbs on me now, maybe I'm just a good wrestler.(yeah we still do that sometimes  ) Like 5'7" btw.

In present I am quite fat (Antidepressants don't help), but as a kid I was thin and I always had low muscles strength and stamina; I don't know why I have such low strength, as my brothers have normal strength. I'm also small, but so my parents and brothers, so it's a family thing.

I'm 220 pounds a six feet tall (when I was able to stand up straight).

I'd like to see some links to this "tryptophan" nonsense, if it exists.

I'm very skinny. 6 feet 3 inches and 138 pounds. I think this is due to a high metabolism rather than autism, since my mom has a similar build and she's NT.

6 foot 3 and 138 lbs? Is that a misprint? You have to put on some pounds! (unless you feel good at that weight). My height is indicated below--and if I were 138 lbs, I'd be a stringbean!

I'm 5 foot 4.75 inches and weight about 185. I have broad shoulders, and I look strong and stocky, albeit a little chubby.

5'4 ft, and never weigh over 110 lbs. Which I don't know why, even at this age of 21...
I inherited it from my mom's side, because my dad's side of relatives consists of overweighting diabetics.

I'm rather skinny, and there were no apparent muscles. Though I sort of want to... Even with the appearance, I'm stronger and with more endurance. I never worked out, no 'special diets', never been an active athlete.
But from where I live, I'm 'taller' in comparison since the average female height here is less than 5 ft. And my weight is about less than average.

5 foot 4 and 110 lbs. is not "abnormal" at all for a woman.
