Is this a Nazi salute? If so, what does it mean about the Republican Party? I have heard that Trump's father was a white supremacist.

Roman salute on the left; Trump looks like he's waving

You'll find career politicians and people in those circles like doing it, which makes sense as Roman history would be a part of the education of these people.

I'm sure you can find say, Obama/Hillary/Bush doing it.

You're right ... the Nazi and Italian fascist movements both adopted it from the Roman salute.

You just now noticed the comparison between the Republicans and the Nazis? Almost everything in the Republican platform since World War 2 has come directly from Nazi textbooks. If you want a smoking gun connection between the Republicans and the Nazis, Google the Bush family connections to Nazis. If the Bushes would had been president during WW2 we would have been allies with the Germans.

They may be pledging allegiance to the flag. Look up Bellamy Salute when you have a chance. When I was a kid in kindergarten in 1941 that is how I pledged allegiance. Right arm straight out. In 1942 then changed the gesture to hand over heart.

It's true, Trump's father was a racist who kept blacks from renting from him, and allegedly was a financial contributor to the KKK. Singer Woody Guthrie, himself a strong believer in civil rights back in those days, mentions Old Man Trump in one of his songs as a racist pr*ck. Sure, Donald Trump should not be held accountable for the sins of his father, but as the government had taken action against him for discriminatory practices based on race after inheriting the old fart's properties, and how he is now appealing to people's racism in order to get elected, I'd say the old man had had a great influence on him.

Trump is just waving but the woman in blue is actually trying to emulate him (a form of flattery) and she has mistaken his gesture as a "Zeig Heil"!
