I really hate these kinds of news articles. They smack of inspiration porn. Self serving NTs using NDs to show how kind and accepting they are towards the one Token Autist in their school. While they are probably lauging at him behind his back.

Family Guy had done an episode where Chris Griffin is made home coming king because everyone else in school thinks he's mentally slow. After finding that his queen was a girl killed in a car crash after using PCP, he shouts at the assembled student body that they had picked him just to feel better about themselves.

'Round these parts being Homecoming King involves riding in a parade around town and being crowned on the football field during halftime of the big game, among other things. Not stuff that a whole lot of autistic people would enjoy.

You do kinda have a point there.

If NT.s bully you 364 days a year, but take one day off to make you the homecoming king I guess thats better than just bullying 24/7 365 days a year!
