Over the years it has changed. Early on it was Football cards, air plane cards, and stamps. As I have gotten older, comic books and I started collecting snare drums about a year ago.

First year at secondary school I kept every bus ticket from the daily journey.

I tend to collect receipts and the like these days but that is because I have a wee business and I need records of how much it spends and invoices.

DVD and Blu-rays (over 1000 mostly from small labels like Arrow, Masters of Cinema, BFI, Blue Underground, Severin). I have a multiregion Blu-Ray player so I never need to worry about where the discs come from. I spend far too much money on them but then again, I don't go out drinking like other people.

CDs (again, around the 1000 mark) but not so much anymore. I get a little obsessed over individual artists (Miles Davis, Sunn o))), Bjork) sometimes and end up buying entire discographies. I have over 100 Miles Davis CDs :)

Books. I had a silly amount and had to get rid of a load as they were taking over the house. Nowadays I mostly buy them for my Kindle.

With any interest I get into (archery, climbing, free-diving, camping etc) I'll usually end up buying stuff for it. The research is always the funnest part though.

I collect bird feathers, but only if naturally found by happenstance. I'd never buy them or collect fake ones.
Also just started collecting different cameras, mainly vintage.

When I was a kid I had a shot glass collection, dragon collection, CD collection (I didn't even listen to most of them, and some were weird ones like the ones that AOL and stuff would mail out for free).

Now it's action figures, mostly Star Wars and The Watchmen, but I have a few others. I'm trying to not collect pint glasses, but it's starting to turn into a collection. Oh, and books, I don't read most of them, but I have to have them. The ones I do read, I read over and over.

Edit *** Oh, and I collected rocks and sea shells as a kid too!
