Apparently Nixon achieved his face-saving "peace with honor" agreement with Vietnam largely because the Vietnamese genuinely thought him crazy enough to use nukes, or at least that's a theory I saw on CNN.

BTW my pointing this out is not intended to imply anything regarding Trump, I just thought I'd throw it out there.

Agreed, but nuclear weapons have already been invented and cannot be un-invented. Once one side has them the other side (or sides) have to as a deterrent. The temptation to hit someone with a big stick is usually dampened when that other person has a big stick, too.

Depends on which world leader we're talking about.

Some of us don't want ourselves or our loved ones to die.

For the record, I doubt anyone here wants you to die, either.

It literally makes no sense to have one. If one were to occur, there's no guarantee anyone would survive. If there were survivors, in say a vault(including the President), the survivors would neither forgive or trust the President again. With ample supplies you could survive for some time, but we're talking "the rest of all existence". Your resources would have to be renewable and you'd need somewhere to store and somewhere to renew said resources(terrarium/aquarium, chemistry lab, etc.). With all that considered, your vault would be HUGE!! ! And more than most can afford. Say you needed to leave for some reason. A problem you'd encounter is nuclear fallout, which would've contaminated everything on the outside: plants, animal, everything. A video from YouTube that might hopefully answer some unanswered questions.

I had forgotten about Mutually Assured Destruction(M.A.D), which I imagine all other countries have adopted. It would be everybody shoots everybody and no one wins, in the end.
