I am very quiet, people have a lot of trouble hearing me and I've been told I mumble too so probably mostly the same problems. Sometimes when I speak I can be repetitive and kind of circle around what I am saying, I'll get lost and not know what to say next. Stress and anxiety cause my to speaking to really unravel.

Usually once I've started to speak for an hour or so, my monotone voice "warms up" and then I can talk normally, otherwise I'm almost inaudible. Talking to people first thing on a morning doesn't go well for me, my vocal tone is "cringy" to say the least.

Yup, yup and yup. I talk fast. Over the years I've learned to slow it down so that I'm understood, but if I'm talking passionately about something it's hard for me not to sound like I've been turned up to a million. :)

And I'm an author. So yeah, there's that. Writing it out is way easier than trying to say what I need to.

Most of the time, yes. I either talk too fast or too quiet, I can never find the right balance. :/

I find it annoying when people lose patience and try to fill in the 'pause' for me. And, they are always wrong. It feels like a mental 'stutter'. OK. I don't know what it feels like to stutter, but for me it's a logjam of ideas that collide and I have to sort through them. Sometimes, it's a nexus of tangents that I am trying to prioritize.

So, that pause, makes people anxious and want to fill in the blanks for me. Maybe it's because I can go into fast speak mode many times.

It is very frustrating.

Oh, and the pros that want to jump to other diagnosis because they don't have enough knowledge. For instance, OCD and ADHD. Last person I spoke to literally asked if I had them. Told them I had been screened. They asked if I was tested and if I was sure. This is the VA...not the specialists......

Ummmmm, tested out the wazoo, a 20 page report on how they arrived at their diagnosis and testing methodology. So, yeah, I'm sure...been tested...stop trying to add to the diagnosis.....HFA is enough, thank you very much.

And, completion is a great difficulty with me, told them that a million times and they still ask if I have OCD......sigh.....

Yep! Sometimes I speak loud and quiet at inappropriate times. Sorry, I'm really stupid. What is "monotonous" voice? Is this a rhythm or the sound? Sorry :( I, too, are a fast talker but sometimes I talk slurred like drag the words out.

Monotone - no change in the sound of the voice. It is the one tone continuously.

I don't know, no one comments on it. Here is my accent tag recording:
