I've always been an advocate of talent over popularity. My circle of friends (or even acquaintances) has never been immeasurably large, and I don't like to say I have perfect social skills either. But what I lack in social skills, I apparently make up for in musical talent.

I'd rather be talented--any day of the week!

Being popular means that you're bothered by lots of people.

I would want to be popular because I'm talented.

I'd rather be talented personally.

Talented man. If you're sufficiently talented at something, people will look up to you, and you will likely become popular even if you've got next to no natural charismatic skills. Chances are the friends you get because you're talented at something will be better than the ones you get simply because you're popular.

I'm talented with next to no natural charismatic skills.
Guess what tends to happen with me?
People get jealous ...
I have abilities that other people wish they had,
but I don't have the ability to soften that blow to their ego by using good social skills.

The best friends don't depend on your talent or your popularity ...
they value and appreciate you for who you are.

Rare, I know.
Super rare.
