It's been over thirty years (thirty four if you want to be pedantic) since the first one, but here is the teaser for 'Blade Runner 2049' with Ridley Scott as executive producer, Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling headlining (with Robin Wright, Barkhad Abdi and Jared Leto in supporting roles) and Denis Villeneuve ('Prisoners', 'Sicario' and 'Arrival') at the helm. Enjoy...

Hmm...I'm still skeptical. I'd love to be proved wrong, though.

This will continue the debate regarding if Deckard is human or a replicant.

{BTW, if Deckard is a replicant, where is his original self?}

WB certainly made a smart decision by hiring Villeneuve to direct. His work directing Prisoners impressed me.

I loved the original movie, and I'm sure I'll enjoy this one,

I was a little nervous when I heard Scott wasn't directing but this trailer looks really good! I'm a big fan of Villeneuve and also really curious to answer the question if Deckard is a replicant, (I've always been of the opinion that he is)

If Deckard is a Replicant, why has he aged?

Well replicants are pretty much cyborgs, metal innards with human tissue added on top. At least I think they are.

In the book, yes. Parts go flying when they get shot up. In the movie, they're about as flesh-and-blood as any human. They're so biologically identical to humans that Tyrell implemented the four-year lifespan, otherwise they'd live as long as us. Of course, if Scott is hellbent on Deck being a Replicant, he can come up with any excuse he pleases to explain the aging, just like how Terminator Genisys explained why the Arnold Terminator looked old.

Anyway, I fall on the "he's human" side of the fence, but I hope the sequel doesn't confirm it one way or another. I wouldn't want it saying definitively that he's human any more than I would want it saying definitively that he's not. The ambiguity is important (to quote one of the screenwriters, "asking the question is good, but answering it is BS") and I hope they don't ruin that.

Actually, Replicants are human in every way, save that they are artificially created as adults rather than being born as babies. I take back that they shouldn't be able to age; it's just that they never had an opportunity to, with the four year life span all.
