how do you pronounce 2016?

I say 'twenty sixteen', because it's a little bit faster. I understand that the number '2000' is never pronounced as 'twenty hundred' whereas 1900, when not a year, can be pronounced as 'one thousand nine hundred', but I just like the way 'twenty sixteen' etc. sound.

In Dutch, I also say 'twintigzestien' for 2016 instead of 'tweeduizend zestien' which would be more correct. I think the Dutch frown upon this more, though. Sometimes I just do it to see the reactions.

what is this decade called? the tens? the teens?

next decade is simple. back to the twenties again.

i've seen both used. "tens" a bit more often.

the last decade was the "noughties", but that seems like a recent development.

i hope we get to see flappers again. (but not the gangs)
