Probably not, aspergers is not the only means to be quirky.

This passage from an article about Yankovic's college years is why I considered this:

"Yankovic, uncomfortable walking through the halls wearing only a towel, always brought a change of clothes with him to the communal showers. Miller came home from class one day to a group of boys laughing because they had stolen “Weird Al’s” clothes and he wouldn’t come out of the shower.

“I lost it,” said Miller, who claims he threatened the boys with a nearby chair unless they returned the belongings. “I gave his clothes back and told him, ‘Hey, those guys are real as*holes.’”

Yankovic had already solved the problem by wrapping himself in the shower curtain, but he thanked Miller for the gesture. Even still, he remained socially distant for several months."

It seems like almost anyone qualifies these days, so why not Yankovic?

That has nothing to do with aspergers, a ton of people are shy like that.

Who knows? Certainly I know way too little about "Weird" Al to speculate. I do know, however, that I'm an Aspie and I was making up nonsense lyrics to popular songs (perhaps because the original emotion driven lyrics were just nonsense to me) probably a decade or more before Al ever released one of his parodies. Example: "Got a Sore Bum" sung to Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb". (For those hailing from North America, by "bum" I mean posterior, not "hobo")

I don't think so. I would have to hear about it from him first before I believe it. Not from hearsay or gossip.

not sure why it matters.

even if he does, it doesn't make your average joe aspie any cooler by association.

No way to judge if he is an aspie, or not.

He confessed to being "White and Nerdy" in one of his hit rap spoofs. The "White" part is obviously true, and one gets the impression that the "nerdy" part is also "truth spoken in jest". But even "nerdy" is not exactly the same thing as "aspie" ( though there is a lot of overlap between the aspie population and the nerdy population).

"Nerdy" and Asperger's are two different things.

I'd be embarrassed to walk through the halls in only a towel, too. Plus, if it's freezing cold, you could get pneumonia.

Bullying and hazing doesn't just happen to aspies. There are probably MILLIONS of NTs who've had their clothes stolen by idiot bullies.

I remember when I was in the sixth grade and all the sixth graders went to "science camp." We had to walk from the shower room to our cabins clad only in towels. It was January and it was freezing cold. Also, a notorious "crud" was going around the camp. Not only was I terribly embarrassed to walk around practically naked, I also caught a vicious flu that bordered on pneumonia. My lungs took about six months to recover completely and I was always short of breath when I tried to run.
