Obesity is a pretty big problem in the devoloped world. It shortens lives. It reduces quality of life. It increases risk of health problems. It lowers the countries ability to defend itself. It is bad for the economy.

Obesity affects low income families especially. Many people lack access to quality food and work to long to exercise.

Too much internet. Too much X-box. Too much highly processed food.

However Trump is older than Taft was when Taft took office. So you gotta give Trump a little slack (both literally, and figuratively) in the waistline for that.

Even healthy foods doesn't matter. It's all about calories. A nutrition professor lost weight eating nothing but pure junk food by controlling how many calories he took in.

First off planning calories like that is not a possibility for everyone. Losing weight is not the way for health you have to keep it off. Fast food is empty calories and contains little nutrition.

true. there are lots of foods out there marketed as "healthy" and "organic" which may certainly not be the former, and show a very skewed interpretation of the latter word. all "organic" means is derived from living matter or containing one of the four elements central to life (oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, hydrogen). it doesn't mean it's healthier. cancer is organic. cyanide is also organic.

"organic" is probably one of the most abused and misused words/phrases in the industry, right up there with "free range" and "diet".

as for portion control...i've found that being served your food by someone else (who knows better) helps to control it, as opposed to being at a buffet style setting, where you're much more likely to pig out. :skull:

swapping out your plates for smaller ones might help too, but i'm not sure.

I think all of the junk food in grocery stores, lack of exercise and the so called "healthy choice" meals in chain restaurants just being a salad with meat and loads of light dressing have a major impact. Restaurants have outrageous portions.

I'm very health conscious and like to exercise frequently. By BMI standards I'm obese. Last time I checked I was 242 pounds but my clothing size is the same as it's been for six or seven years. I know better than to put fattening foods in my body and I do jogging, step and strength training at home.

While the food and lifestyle choices are to blame I think lack of willpower is to blame as well.
