Did you ever believe that he was a real man who delivered presents on Christmas Eve? If you believed, how did you think he got in houses without chimneys? I believed in Santa Claus and believed that if a house didn't have a chimney, he went in through the door using a magic key.

I didn't really "believe" in him literally even when I was very young.

But, there were times when I thought: "you never know."

I figured he came through the heating duct.

I believed in him, and I thought he might be able to get through doors without having to open them, but I never really thought about it.

As I got older, I thought the Easter Bunny was hard to believe in because I had never seen a photo of the real one (only people in rabbit costumes) and I couldn't imagine a human sized rabbit.

Same here. I sort of went along with it like he was real sense I didn't have a strong opinion & it was what the adults wanted me to do.

i never bought the "chimney" thing, as we don't have a fireplace, and our own chimney or similar structure is about a foot wide and opens right above our stove. never saw any footprint there, so he probably just came in through the back door.

good thing i stopped believing in him before i got julie, the mutt, otherwise she would have barked her head off at him and interrupted his very important job. dispelled the mystery too.

i remember seeing an old, white haired, bearded hobo on the way home from a christmas parade many years ago as a child, ranting slurred words against christmas and kids, for several years i managed to convince myself that HE was the real santa claus.

I literally believed in him until I grew out of it, around 9 or so. I too believed the magic key theory.
