Broadly speaking, you won't get very good results from coddling an aggressive, delusional person with reasonably high intelligence, like Trump and some of his supporters. You also won't be doing the supporters any favors by indulging in their guilt trips or by letting them set the terms of the debate.

I can't tell if the administration has contrived this persecution fantasy as a tool to manipulate public opinion, or if they really believe it, but my experience with such fantasies suggests that people defend them furiously.

There's plenty of others. Plus plenty of accusations of Obama being a narcissist, Obama being a dictator, being like Hitler etc. What's amusing is that Trump detractors think there's something new about these things being said about a president.

Tons of this stuff.

There is one big difference between the accusation of fascism against Obama and the accusations of fascism against Trump: those against Obama were based on nearly nothing and superficial things like the "socialist" word in the socialist national party, those against Trump are based on deeper and meaningful things like the content of what he actually is saying been greatly similar to what peoples like Hitler were saying. Exclusive nationalism; manipulating peoples toward genocide since the dawn of humanity.


What, "America first"?
First off, that was a campaign slogan. Call me a skeptic but I'll need a few years before I'm convinced there's any real and lasting substance to it. However any President of the United States, past, present, and future, should be putting American first. Calling that a prelude to genocide is a bit paranoid.

I don't really talk about "America first", but rather the exclusion inherent in the discourse of Trump toward many population by suggesting that they are not "real americans" or outright traitors toward the nation. Peoples like muslims, illegal immigrants and even simply those who do not think like him.


ILEGAL immigrants.

I hate giving "illness" diagnosis to people who are simply as*holes. Whether it's narcissism or sociopath, it seems as*holes don't actually suffer from their supposed "illness". They tend to do well in our society while they make others suffer. To libel these successful as*holes as "mentally ill" does a disservice to people with real conditions that make them suffer and not cope in this life.

I really think people can be both. Take me for instance; I've been called a sick as*hole more times than I can count.
