how many times do you think is average for someone to move? even if its for a year.
how many moves is to many?

i always thought i would move into a place and stay there for years. i haven't lived in a place longer then 5 years since i moved out of my childhood home at 14. i always wanted to live in apartment and have that place as my home and if/when i did move i would have memories of living there, but i dont create such memories at a place because i know i'm not going live there for very long.

how many times have you moved before you found your dream home?
how many times do you think you're move before staying in one place for more then 10 years?

In general, the less often a person moves, the more secure the person is.

I moved quite a bit in the 1980s. Three times in 1982 alone. I didn't feel secure, and I was almost homeless a couple of times.

Since 1990, though, I've only moved ONCE. I feel much more secure now.

I wouldn't say there is an optimum as everyone is different but I imagine the conditions under which one moves are highly relevant. For instance, being forced vs. moving to your dream location with a plan, plenty of money, and resources at your disposal.
There's probably studies on this sort of thing.
I didn't move home much as a child by I moved schools quite a bit. At 16 though I was forced to the US with my family and ended up quite mentally unwell. Since returning to Scotland I've lived at 8 separate addresses in 6 1/2 years, two of which were homeless accommodation. I'll need to move again this July and I can't say I'm looking forward to it for various reasons. I'd love to have financial security and a comfortable home in my name.

I just counted because I knew it was quite a few, I'm about to move into my 26 house in my life.
No wonder I've had trouble feeling like I belong anywhere.

I've lived in 22 houses / apartments. All these moves were in my adult life, so that's 21 homes in 35 years. Not exactly stable.

In my lifetime, I've moved a total of about 20 times. When I was living in California, I moved once a year for 7 years. Now that I'm in Chicago, even more than that. So I've been around.

I have moved about 15 times in my 35 years. I moved thrice as a kid, not including domestic violence shelters a few times. I've lived in 3 different homes abroad. The longest stay anywhere since adulthood is 4 or 5 years.

Now I will try to buy a house and live out my days there. When you become older it is more difficult to move and move.

It would have been nice to enjoy more stability.

I lived in two different places for ten years each, before moving 4 times in 5 years do to problems with neighbors. I wasn't stable during that time period due to paranoia, but have been stable for a year now, and have no plans to move.

Due to my parent's work, I never lived more than 4 years direct in a same city (I lived 6 years in one city but it was 3 different times). When I went to university I thought I would settle in a city but everything turned so messy that I quite university twice which means that I moved to 3 different cities to study (and a 4th as exchange university), and I don't feel much perspective to stay in my city when I complete my degree. I feel I won't be able to fix in anywhere :/ and I wish I could but everywhere seems to reject me now

I have moved 15 times in 56 years. The last place I lived for 15 years. I have lived in my current place for three years. I do think I will eventually move to a near by town. But I don't think that will be for another 7 to 10 years. Since my current place is fine for now.

I don't like to move often. But it is nice to move every 10 years or so. Just to get a fresh start, and a new place.

I seem to be moving all the time...the availability of flats where I live is dropping and the price is rising...hence I get pushed further and further from the centre of London. Near Canary Wharf at the moment, but expecting to move soon as the cost of rent is insane.

May I'll move to Kent.

My mate lives around Canary Wharf, £600 quid for A ROOM per month in an ex council flat shared with 4 other people. It's ridiculous. I'm not surprised everyones moving up north these days. Best of luck, I heard it was terrible around there.

the optimum is probably not moving at all or just once, stability is a good thing and if you're moving around every year then something is probably wrong.

As for me, I've move too many times to count

The less the better really.
In my view, 4 times would be what i'm aiming for.
first, you move from your parents house to a college dorm, second is from this dorm to a starter house, 3rd to a family house and finally to a senior house.
