My dad was saying earlier that if someone digged up princess Diana's body and held it for ransom that would grab all the newspaper headlines in the world.

Do you think my father is right?

What a strange question.

Why are you asking this?

Of course it would make the headlines.

Why wouldnt it?

It wouldnt be as big as the moon landing, but it would be at least as big as the ransom of Charlie Chaplin's dead body in 1978 (I dont recall that being front page, but I was aware of it happening - so it must have been in the news). Maybe not as big as the kidnapping of Charles Lindberg's live baby (which was ginormous BIG news in the Thirties) but pretty close to that.

Hmmm...

How did you two get on that subject in the first place?

If your dad just brought up the idea out of the blue (of ransoming Di's body) then ..yeah...I would have to agree that that is something rather strange.

Its both macabre, and not obviously related to anything in the news right now. So it is kinda odd that he would bring that up as a topic of conversation.

The media in the US and the UK would sensationalize and talk non-stop about it to the point where I would much more disgusted by them than I would be by the fact that some nutcase is holding a dead body for ransom.

It probably would be for a few hours, until Donald Trump posted something goofy sounding on Twitter. Then that would become the main focus.

I would find this whole thing ridiculous.

This is Fall of Rome-type stuff.

But what if Donald Trump tweeted that he's dug up Dianas body and is holding it for ransom?

There would be a huge investigation to see if there is evidence for his tweet. And Trump would refuse to give any further statement. He would get impeached whether or not he actually did dig it up.

That's a very strange question.
