Now offered at Walmart.No extra charge for the meat.While this is still an organic product,it is no longer considered vegan.Bon appetite.

Some folks bought a pack of the organic spring mix salad and found a decomposed bat in it AFTER they had eaten some of it. Now there is a recall because of possible rabies.I doubt anyone actually is in danger from it,but just gross.How did a rotten bat get in the spring mix??
Years ago a severed finger was found in a can of green beans,no one ever figured out where it came from.
Maybe a good idea to rummage thru the salad before consuming it.

That's really bad! We need to be careful what we are buying and check everything with a fine tooth comb!

It's the gross factor. Bats would make rather nice pets but I wouldn't want a dead one in my kitchen...

You mean no-one ever claimed a missing finger as theirs? Just "covered it up."

lol I can see how a rat or mouse might get into food products,I bet it happens regularly and we don't even know.Especially if they get ground up in the hamburger.But a bat??
Makes me so happy that I have a little garden with fresh greens in the ground and the bats are all up in the sky like they should be.Not in the salad bowl with croutons and ranch.
I bet those people develop a salad phobia after this.And a fat wallet after the lawsuit.Bet Walmart has already cut the check and mailed it.

I'm guessing the finger came from a farm worker,maybe they were afraid to seek medical help if they were a migrant.
I'm going to dump any greens I buy in the future into a bowl and check before consuming.I rarely go to Walmart,but when I did,that was the salad mix I bought.Glad my garden is popping right now.
Another good reason to grow your own food if you can.The worst that can happen is you accidentally eat a bug.

I am an omnivore and have no objection in principle to meat in salads.

This does look a bit... gamey, though.

Also, if this was a free range bat, the chance that it's carrying rabies is a consideration. Consuming bat tartar would be a an uncontrolled experiment in zoonotic viral infection that I would not choose to participate in.

I bought salad mix earlier on, albeit it was at Safeway. I'm hoping whoever packaged mine wasn't a part of the same supply chain.

I wish I hadn't read the details. My mom makes me eat that type of salad and I have enough trouble choking it down as is.
