I want to write a comedy-type story about 2 men in a prison cell, but I don't know much about prisons. I was wondering if anyone here could give me inspiration, if anyone is more knowledgeable about how prisons work in the UK.

I always thought prison meant you are locked in one cell day in day out for however long your prison sentence is, but when doing some research about it on Google it seems that you do a lot more in prison than I thought.

The main plot of the story is about 2 men in the same prison cell who are like best mates but they get sick of each other too. One is very hyperactive and annoying, and has never had a girlfriend and wishes he could escape just so he can find a girl to have sex with, and the other is rather opinionated but doesn't really worry about anything as long as he's got his TV to watch.

It sounds rather fun to write, but I need some inspiration of what prison is like and how much you spend inside your cell with your cell mate.

Note: The two inmates do not have sex with each other.

I suppose hearing from actual UK prisoners might be a start.
