That would be cool especially if he creates goes back to his comedy roots. Again people will complain about a black person being cast though it is for a role starring a blue person.

I have mixed feelings if this happens. I'm a Will Smith fan, but I don't think he can be better than Robin Williams.

Couldn't be worse than Shaquille O'Neal in Kazaam.

"Let's green egg and ham it" still makes me cringe. What does that even mean?!

My guess is they snagged Smith for his star power.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the two leads who are to play Aladdin and Jasmine, must preferably be of Middle Eastern descent:

As there aren't a whole lot of high profile young actors of Middle Eastern descent in Hollywood, the leads will very likely be unknowns. I'm hoping the movie can avoid insensitive stereotypes, and help put some spotlight on Middle Eastern American talent and boost some careers. It would be incredibly ballsy to have an Arab hero in a Hollywood film at this juncture in time.

In the meantime, Will Smith would do fine as the Genie, I'm sure. Excellent comedic timing.

It would be great to have middle eastern leads. Maybe Dev Patel even though he is english instead of american. His parents are still of indian descent.

I've got mixed feelings about Disney making live action remakes of all their animated classics.

Bob got screwed.

And he's not happy. This was his ticket back into the acting business.

It will be a hard sell for anyone to beat Robin Williams in this role.
That is not a reason to try it, especially since Williams isn't an option anymore

Why can't they get a really good improv comedian?
