A: Are you hungry?
B: What are you offering?
A: I'm offering you food if you are hungry.
B: Why are you being awkward?
A: What?
B: What?
A: *mutters under breath* death will soon come.

One of the many red spider lilies blooming in my yard.

I read that in Japan these flowers were believed to have a connection to death and the Underworld. :skull:

^I also have those.Mine aren’t up yet.
They were the last flowers I gave a dear friend days before they died of terminal lung cancer. At that time I had no idea what they symbolized. They get planted around cemeteries often in the South.

Yeah in Japan they are also often planted around cemeteries and made into bouquets for funeral decorations.

But they're also a kind of bad omen to pick and give to the living due to their connection to death. I always used to pick them for my mom because i just thougjt they were pretty flowers.

One of the many things I admire about Japanese culture is the deep symbolism they give to so many plants and flowers. Fascinating stuff. Sometimes a flower is more than just a flower. :flower:

Interesting bit of history about the Ace of Spades aka "death card" and how it was used by American soldiers during the Vietnam War for psychological warfare. ♤

They’re always in the last place you look.

Literal thinker alert: ^

I always thought that was stupid.
Of course things are in the last place you look.
Why keep looking after you find them?

^ Maybe the saying got corrupted at some point. 'Last place you'd look' seems better in the X-ray instance. Having said that, I've looked for something in the same place several times, but only found it on the 3rd or 4th look. Metaphors and Sayings are bizarre if you are a literal thinker.

One time I lost my keys and my mother told me to look in the boxes of Christmas decorations under the stairs in our crawlspace. This was mid-summer.

Eating them is more my speed.

Two carved wooden pagan statues I found on Etsy that are made in Ukraine. The Greek God Hades and the Jewish Demon Lilith.

The King of the Underworld and the Queen of Hell respectively.

All my grandmothers and great grandmothers on my dad's side of my family are gone. The same for my grandfathers on his side.
