Donald Trump congratulates record-breaking astronaut Peggy Whitson and jokes about drinking filtered urine

Quote:
After spending more than a year and a half living in space throughout her career, astronaut and International Space Station commander Peggy Whitson has received a congratulatory call from President Donald Trump to commemorate her record breaking time in orbit. During the chat they also happened to discuss drinking urine.

“It’s really not as bad as it sounds,” Ms Whitson told Mr Trump about the recycling program on the International Space Station that converts astronaut urine into drinkable water.

“Well, that’s good, I’m glad to hear that,” Mr Trump said. “Better you than me.”

I have been offended by a number of things Trump has said, not this one. I got a good laugh. I actually think this joke was funniest and best delivered joke I have heard from him.

He should have avoided that joke, imo, because there was already a scandal about urine.

I am reminded of Obama joking about sensitive subjects.

That is what made it funnier for me.
I am reminded of lyrics from the song "When I Grow Up" by Garbage.

Of course it has to be a female astronaut. It wasn't long ago when most people thought only guys could travel in space, so if it was a guy no one would care. Just like that heavily-sensationalized incident with a female astronaut and her space diaper and I don't remember much else because it was so stupid.

Perhaps Trump had a reason for being interested in this female astronaut's pee

I've thought that he might be a masochist, at times.

After so much reverse-sexism, and, of course the Lisa Nowak debacle, female astronauts (bodybuilders, judges, lumberjacks, etc.) are used as a negative stereotype. Female astronaut is considered synonymous with a nag or interloper. I should say that it's chauvinism, and we are conscious of that, before 50 more posts re-state the obvious.

(Early police reports indicated she wore space diapers as a stocker.)

I mean...We were all thinking it. Trump just said it out loud.

I really don't understand the uproar over this.

Another storm in water glass. Is there anything that doesn't offend people these days?
It was just funny.
