I've always really dug that "50s songs re-recorded as 80s songs" vibe, a lot of bands did it.
I have a Herman's Hermits cassette tape like that. I guess people hate it because Peter Noone isn't on it, but I grew up with it, and hearing the original songs is kind of weird to me.
Or stuff like A Pup Named Scooby Doo, or the Little Shop of Horrors musical, or the Pound Puppies movie, ha ha.

I think I need to listen to this album now.
