No, they don't.
But some of you religious people seem to think that they do.
I want to know why this is.

The debate is very easy for me as I do not think people have free will.

We don't have a choice, no. It's the environment mixed with genetics. I believe it can be altered, however.

No, people don't chose to be gay!

That is a remark made by religion since thousands of years ago written in the Penthateuc, which was at a time of human ignorance, in which people believed the world was flat, they believed sick people were possesed by evil spirits, they believed God is a man, so men should be first and women second.

Centuries later, religion still makes that argument, which at the 21 century is Ridiculous, things have changed, humankind had advanced in science and technology, and still believing that gay people are evil is crap and pure IGNORANCE.

Actually that is one of the reasons that I questioned religion dogma a few years ago.

I am straight, am I allowed to say all of this?

Soph I sympathize with you for your feelings about religion
maybe they need to change this, they had change a lot of things with time, so why not change this view?

Do people choose their urges? Not really. Given that a homosexual is designated as desiring his same sex, it thus must be stated that homosexuality is not a choice. Frankly, I think that on some level the religious people think that one can fight sin and win against it, however, if one just looks at the crimes that according to their book, all of them have committed and still do commit, it would seem the notion of choice and absolute victory against any evil in their book tends to be false thus putting homosexuality beyond the conventional idea of choice.

Then again, I don't know when my sexuality really developed to be honest and thus cannot remember if I could shape it in some form or fashion. It might be interesting to see how human sexuality starts developing as it most certainly confuses the heck out of the people it starts up in.

Of course, you can edit your post though. I mean it's been 2 days and

Well, kind of. I felt myself questioning my sexuality one day, and finally I just said "I give up! I don't care!"

It would be pointless for me to keep editing that post every time someone voted.
And what has been 2 days?
