So I haven't had friends in years. Mainly because I hate patronizing and overly nurturing types. They make me feel small. I still get approached by those types once in a while. I generally ignore them or give them a dirty look. Since I'm desperate for friends, I think I'll stop doing that. I just need some coping skills for dealing with people who look down on me and see me as different.

I bet you'll make plenty of friends if you start going to school for optometry.

yes. in previous "friendships", i was afraid to set boundaries, so i let them walk all over me. then they have the nerve to tell me that they would tell me when i did something they did not like, and they expected me to stop. immediately, permanently, drastically, and cheerfully. while they would not be willing to change anything for me.

the licensed clinical social worker told me that i should not lower my standards, just b/c i ain't got no real "friends".

but  cost benefit analysis.

every situation is different

Who knows, maybe a fake friend will turn into a real friend.

Fake friends are handy to use as references on job applications.
