But frankly I don't think that white-shaming southerners is ever going to fix any of the issues of racism in this region.

And I think that the TRUE reason the Union abolished slavery wasn't because they gave a s**t about the slaves, it was because they wanted to destroy the south's economy as revenge for betraying the country.

Flying Nazi flags is not against the law in the United States, it is constitutionally protected freedom of speech.

Aren't they banned in Germany though? Or am I wrong again? :P

They are banned in Germany and a lot of other places.

Hurray! Im not wrong for once!

I think personally what I hate most about the Confederate Flag is that it represents everything that the rest of this country hates about the south.

Christopher Columbus statues in Providence, San Francisco vandalized on Columbus Day

Quote:

Two statues of Christopher Columbus were vandalized Monday, doused with red paint, as Columbus Day comes under increased scrutiny from those who criticize the Italian navigator's legacy.

The Columbus statue in downtown Providence, Rhode Island, was defaced early Monday, NBC affiliate WJAR reported. The statue was draped in a sign that read “Stop Celebrating Genocide,” a reference to Columbus’ role in the colonization of North America, the killing of indigenous groups and the spread of slavery.

Across the country, in San Francisco, a statue of Columbus in the city’s Little Italy neighborhood was similarly vandalized. Below the statue someone wrote, "Destroy all monuments of genocide and kill all colonizers,” NBC Bay Area reported.

Police in both Providence and San Francisco are investigating the vandalism of the statues, and said they have no suspects at this time

Another Confederate monument comes down, this time in North Carolina

Quote:

A Confederate monument that had stood in front of a North Carolina courthouse for 112 years was taken down overnight after months of debate and protests.

Georgia law prohibits removing these Confederate monuments. So Atlanta is adding context
Georgia law prohibits removing these Confederate monuments. So Atlanta is adding context
Crews used cranes early Wednesday to remove the monument -- a bronze statue of a Confederate soldier atop a marble pedestal -- from its spot outside the Chatham County courthouse in Pittsboro, roughly a 35-mile drive west of Raleigh.

It was the latest Confederate memorial in the South to be moved in the past few years amid a national debate about their purpose and necessity.
The county Board of Commissioners voted in August to remove the statue, CNN affiliate WRAL reported.

That sparked a court challenge by the group that donated the statue in 1907, the Winnie Davis Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. A judge ruled this month that the group did not give sufficient evidence supporting the monument's continued presence in front of the courthouse, CNN affiliate WTVD reported.

The statue and pedestal "will be transported to a safe location where they will be preserved and stored" until the Winnie Davis chapter "finds a more appropriate location to place them," the county said in a news release.

A few dozen people gathered to watch the removal after the county announced late Tuesday that it was about to happen, CNN affiliates reported.

Majority of North Carolinians want Confederate monuments to stay, poll says
Quote:

Nearly two-thirds of North Carolina residents support keeping Confederate statues and monuments on public property, according to a recent Elon University poll.
A survey of 1,500 North Carolina residents saw 65 percent saying they want Confederate monuments to stay on public, government-owned property such as parks, city squares and courthouses.

The other 35 percent want to see the monuments removed.
Of those who want the monuments to stay in place, 77 percent of those are white and 27 percent black, the poll shows.

“Republicans overwhelmingly support keeping Confederate statues and monuments on public property, with 91 percent holding that view, while just 36 percent of Democrats support keeping them where they are,” Elon University said in a release.

A total of 72 percent of those surveyed support adding historical context to the monuments through plaques.

Two charged with damaging Bentonville Confederate Monument
Quote:

Two people have been charged for damaging the Confederate Monument in Bentonville, Police Sgt. Gene Page told 40/29 News.

Laura Hammarstrom and Jeremy Ordaz, both adults, were charged with 1st Degree Criminal Mischief, a Class C Felony. They were assigned court dates in January.

The bottom of the statue's musket has been broken off above the soldier's knee. It used to extend to the base.

A cannonball was taken from the statue in September 2017. It was found under a park bench on the square.

That summer, dueling petitions were circulated about the future of the statue. One wanted it removed from the square and brought to the Pea Ridge National Military Park. The other wanted to keep the statue where it is. The debate over the monument's location was reignited after a deadly white supremacist rally around a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee in Charlottesville, Virginia.

A group gathered around the monument one Sunday that August, saying they were wanted to "protect the statue."

The statue was dedicated by the James H. Berry Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy in 1908. It depicts a Confederate soldier.

In 1914, a plaque was added to honor James Henderson Berry. Berry served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War, according to the Encyclopedia of Arkansas. He moved to Bentonville after the war to practice law, and was elected Governor of Arkansas 1882.

Yes. The Nazi flag is banned in Germany. So when Neo Nazi Skinheads march in Germany they need another flag as a stand in for the Swastika flag. Guess what flag they use as that stand in?

The Battle Flag of the Confederate States of America, of course.

Didn't you get the message, Ben Shapiro and Tucker Carlson both say the real Nazis are on the left. Clearly those are brave patriots convincing the left-wing Nazis to love America and become good guys.

It's funny how they seem to ignore that both globalist capitalism and internationalist socialism are both 'on the left' and that ethno-nationalist ideals, including ethno-socialism, are inherently at odds with what the left has ever represented.

It's funny, even the current crop of fascists don't want to have to be associated with earlier fascists. It's almost like they know they should be ashamed of what they believe and espouse.

Yes the neo-Nazis and associated alt-right groups, militias, bikie and prison gangs and army associations (anyone wonder why the US prison authorities and military encourage neo-Nazis associations who swell the ranks when they are released back into civilian life?) all pretend they aren't like the German Nazis.

The biggest fools are skinheads who have barely any knowledge of the black working class origins of the skinhead movement in 1960s London.

To be fair, a majority of skinheads are aware of that and aren't boneheads.

I thought skins adhere to the "jarhead" philosophy made popular American GIs in WW2 and Vietnam.
