1. Aloof group, which is supposed to be the most common type. They often act indifferent to others, show little facial expression and might not enjoy light touch but resond to rough and tumble play.
2. Passive group, which is the least common type. They accept social approaches but initiate few. They have the least problems in childhood but some develope behavior problems in adolescence.
3. Active but odd group, who make active approaches but have no real understanding of how to interact socially. Tend to be very tactile.
4. Over-formal stilted group, often a pattern only seen in adolescence. Try very hard to behave right and well but have no true understanding of social rules. Tend to be very ridgid about sticking to rules they learned.

Which type are you, and how has it affected you?

As with most categories, the reality isn't so rigid. I chose "active but odd" but I also have qualities of "over-formal and stilted."

I have various social subtypes myself... :|

I start out as active but odd during childhood. Then went passive and overly formal at early teen years, then aloof at late teens.

Now as an adult, it depends on my mood.
Whether I'm hyper or happy enough to be active but odd, serious enough to be aloof, or gauge to passive or formal minus levels of presumptions and rigidity towards social rules.

I can't even pick one that I have not exhibited frequently.

I think this poll requires a bit more explanation for me. If I want to be most comfortable then I am aloof because when I look at someone my mind goes into overdrive and I'm gathering a thousand bits of information per second and the overload and overstimulation scares me. So my indifference is simply there to avoid information overload or overstimulation.

If I'm feeling brave then I will be formal or over stilted simply for the purposes of appearing normal or wanting to feel normal but this is something I can only do in a workplace situation so the humans won't bully me or make fun of me. I can only do the formal and stilted appearance for short periods of time then I need to retreat and shut down to avoid excessive aggression or meltdowns.

There is an interesting test here:
https://www.onlineassessmenttool.com/wh ... ment-19139

I just took it, and my result is:

60% Aloof
30% Passive
10% Active but odd

Before the test, I would have said "aloof, with a slight bit of passive mixed in", so it seems accurate. Unfortunately you need to make an account there in order to get the result.

I would say mostly "passive": I may sometimes come across as a bit aloof, but I'm actually quite expressive with my face and I definitely prefer "light touch" to "rough and tumble play." Also "least problems in childhood" but more later is the story of my life: I thought social interaction would get easier as I got older but have found quite the opposite...

I am "overly formal and stilted."

i am "active but odd."

I used to be "passive" because I was shy, and "aloof" without meaning to be "aloof."

Yeah, passive seems pretty spot on.

Is it really the least common group, or is it more because they don't get diagnosed?

I wish I had known of this test before voting in the poll . I had thought that I was passive , but according to my test result I am only 40% passive , 50% aloof , and even 10 % active but odd . So it would appear that I am a " divergent " . :nerdy:

There doesn't seem to be a category for aggressively aloof, i.e, I look aloof, so GO AWAY. That's me.

A mixture of passive, aloof, and occasional direct social approaches to few.
