The book alone is an astounding novel, and one of the best books i have ever read. And it hold significance today. The recent argument for unlimited war, the old argument of alternative facts, the flat out lies told daily, it's extremely concerning. Even deeply unsettling. what are your guys' thoughts?

Unlimited war? Apparently I've missed that one.

Well, while I have little doubt that Trump would like to be Big Brother, the difference between the Orwell book and reality is, plenty of us still don't believe his "newspeak."

This is precisely what Trump seeks.

He wants to be Big Brother---like Big Brother in 1984.

Pretty much that.....

There already are.....especially in the cities.

They do some good----but at the sacrifice of personal privacy.

You should have said they'll be TELESCREENS everywhere.

Have you read the book "1984?"

Politics and religion are two zones where objectivity reliably evaporates into a cloud of personal narratives and daydreams.

there already are...telescreens everywhere.

i updated my phone to the most recent ios and it gave me the option to turn off notifications while i'm driving, presumably so i'm not distracted.

now i'm sure this is well intentioned. but that means, if i activated that feature it would be tracking my location constantly.

maybe it already does that.

needless to say i disabled that shyt.

Ik you weren't replying to me, but I will respond anyway. I haven't read the book yet, but I have certainly heard about it. I think it is a very interesting one, indeed.

He was responding to Ezra.

You should indeed read the book. Big Brother is becoming more and more real with every passing year. I especially find the part where Winston Smith brings up evidence for evolution to O'Brien and O'Brien shrugs it off reflective of how society takes knowledge for granted.

Chorus to Napalm Death's Ripe For The Breaking:

And when you don't pander to meet the agenda, scavengers start to gather. Perverse visionaries taste the lather; The just rewards in controlled rebellion. Tossed and probed like a grizzly piece of meat, Lock, stock, and barrel slave. You just don't contradict Big Brother. He's got the right to push you under.

And probably W's America too. I already know I'm going to get a lot of hits when I enter the name of whatever president with 1984. And after Trump's term is over, the next president will be compared to Big Brother and or Hitler, guaranteed.
