Does body hair really grow back thicker each time you shave it? I hope this is just a myth. It's gotten me worried about shaving my facial hair too much.

Hair is thinist at the tip and thickest at the follicle. The thickness of a shaft of hear where it emerges from the skin remains the same thickness.

As others have said, it doesn't grow back thicker. It just looks that way the first time because the thinner tips of the hairs have been cut off.

Not thicker, just scratchier.

It looks thicker because its bushier. Each hair is like a splint end. A split end right next to your skin.

I read that it isn't really true. Mothers who thought their teen daughters were too young to be shaving their legs must have once commonly told them their hair would grow back this way.

It doesn't grow back thicker. It grows back the same.

The illusion of increased thickness comes from the blunt ends created by the razor. At least, that's what I read somewhere.

Depends how cheap and rusty the razor blade is, sometimes it seems behind the beard or stache are standing the vengeful and viciously insulted extended family of the chunks of stubbornly affixed hair you just ripped off!
