A US teacher has resigned after being caught on a classroom camera repeatedly hitting a six-year-old autistic boy.

The footage was filmed at the Pathways Educational Program Center in Bainbridge, Georgia on October 9 this year, said Decatur County School Police.

Paraprofessional Melissa Williams-Brown was also in the classroom when the assault occurred and Kornegay said both women submitted their resignations before they could be terminated.

The superintendent says the teacher Avondika Cherry had many years of experience working with special-needs students, had passed a criminal background check and had good references prior to joining Pathways.

"We had no reason to expect this type of behavior from her,"

I'm starting to lose faith in special ed teachers. Why do people continue to teach Sids just to abuse them.

And my question is why didn't the other teacher rush to that other teacher to try and push her away or grab her arms or pull the kid away?

That might be why the other teacher in the room also quickly resigned before an full investigation could be conducted...they both knew they did the wrong thing and were trying to evade potential assault charges from the police bought about from the parents/school
