Who would you want to run as a presidential candidate in the 2020 United States presidential election? Who would your ideal president-vice president partnership be?

Personally, I want to see Rand Paul run in 2020. Currently, I'm undecided on who I would want to see run as VP alongside Paul.

Tammy Duckworth!

Hands down she is the best.
Other people I like are John Bel Edwards and Joe Biden. Not keen on anyone else.

To be honest I am convinced the Republican Party, in general, will be massacred on a massive scale in 2018 and 2020 by very socialist, very left-leaning Democrats. I don't think there is one damn thing the GOP can do about. I think the Democrats will have an absolute landslide victory and flip many traditional Republican states. Many conservatives will have their heads spinning a long time afterward. But make no mistake it will happen. The polls countrywide and the opinions of the dem base are all testaments to this.

I am not convinced it will be a good thing

That people are seriously discussing the Senate flipping is a demostration of depth of the Republican Party's self inflicted wounds. There are 25 dem seats up for reelection and 8 dems up for reelection so even in a bad year the Republicans should gain.

If you are a Republican you are in a catch 22. If you oppose Trump you will be primaried out. The media loves Corker and Flake, they made great speeches but they were exit speeches. Their prospects were so bad they did not even bother trying. Support Trump and lose the general.

If can definatly see a be careful what you wish for scenario wherby freedom of expression of certain ideas is curtailed because the price of expressing them is prohibitave. The victorious side having been “proven” that they are smarter and more cultured people, convinced that history is on their side will pass policies to shut down the “racist” “patriarchal” thinking that is in the way of “progress”.

Many were convinced the the election of Trump meant America would become an Authoritarian state, the miltary would be rousting millions of hispanics and Muslims and throwing them out etc. Whatever harm might been actually done the worst case scenarois have been blocked by Trump’s incompetence and short attention span and the checks and balances put into place by the founding fathers.

I predict overeach will cause a backlash but it will not be nearly as effective as the resistence because they will be older with families etc and less versed in using technology then the goverment they will be trying to check. Checks and balances rely heavily on the legal system, technology has been going around that to a large degree and this will increase.

The generation coming into power in politics and business has less understanding of the value of freedom of expression and tend view individualism as an idea that has led to permanent job insecurity, lifelong paying off of school debts and acceptence of hate.

I would like a President who shares my disdain for the alt right and the illeberal left and whom can persuade people not to even go anywhere near there. While there are a few candidates that want some sanity I do not know that any candidate can be persuasive because we are to polarized right now.

My hope is is that the next generation coming to power as they get older will be like all previous ones and will be humbled by experience. But one can’t assume that will happen before horrific damage is done as history is replete as corrections coming only after utter horrors.

Republican: Ben Bernanke, Michael Bloomberg
Democrat: Kirsten Gillibrand, Cory Booker, Hakeem Jeffries

I want someone socially liberal and economical responsible.
I don't really know a huge amount about American senators but basically I want Jeb vs Hillary without the dynastic baggage (and maybe with Jeb a bit more progressive).
If we get someone like Sanders vs someone like Trump then as far as I'm concerned you should just give up and start your country again.

No Hilary! No Trump!

Let’s go back to the days when we had a eloquent debate of the issues, rather than all this tabloid/twitter crap.

I would run.....a 100 pound bag of fertilizer with a happy face painted on it!

Better than either nominee in 2016, and better than what we have in the Oval Office now.

So why not?

In order to be president it would have to be at least 35 years old, and considering that only three recorded instances of a cat living to be that old (and no recorded instance of a cat ever living to be old enough to be able finish a presidential term), its very unlikely you'd be able to find a cat to do it.
