While I almost never hand flap, one thing that I have noticed that I do a lot is flap my middle finger or ring finger in the air.

Is this something other people do? Do people see this as a "light" version of hand flapping?

I think all that is related. I have seen fingers move a lot like as if the person was spelling out letters in sign language. Or fingers moving like playing an invisible piano or typing. Or hands moving like conducting music. Stuff like that involving repetitive hand and finger movements. All part of autistic stimming. My motto is it's not so much what's being done whether it's hand flapping or finger twiddling, but why it's being done, what's making it happen.

Yeah, I do a lot of finger flicking/flapping. More so than hand-flapping, but I'm pretty much constantly moving my hands in some way or another.

As for me I mostly rub my hands and fingers together and tug and twist my fingers when I'm out places walking.
