I've often heard that referred to as a raspberry in the US, but I never had any idea why it was called that.

Not if my father is anything to go by. He still uses it on a regular basis. My late grandfather took things even further. He had rhyming slang for rhyming slang!

In the late 1970s on my way to class one day in grad school, I stopped by a friend's house for a few minutes. He was talking to someone I had never met and so I sat down to wait until they finished the conversation.

It didn't take long to learn a bit about the conversation. The one who I had never met was a college student from Great Britain. The conversation was about the Monty Python show. In particular, the friend of mine was asking about different parts of various skits on the show.

I was surprised to find out just how much there was in the skits that we, as Americans, just didn't get. We would understand the superficial level of humor but had no understanding of the parts of English society and people and habits that they were parodying in the skits.

If I remember correctly, this was one of the skits that he explained some of the background of:

I have absolutely no recollection of the explanations that were given in the conversation.

I've often wondered, when politicians and the Royal family go abroad and join in with the local dance customs; how often are they just being trolled? Maybe the world's diplomats have a sweep stake on who can get a foreign worthy to make a fool of themselves the most!

Possibly getting our first snow of the Winter later today, according to the forecast. It'll probably just be horizontal sleeting here; that's what usually happens when I get excited about getting my wellies out for a romp around in the snow.

OK, so who else forgot the clock thing?

I found out at lunch time so I've stayed in old time. I'm going to bed soon and have the extra hours sleep tonight.

I only did my clocks tonight despite writing it down on my list.

So I have been an hour out too, all day.

My vertigo is back so I am all over the place anyway.

Hey ho.
