I was standing by the sea at sunset
I was complaining and hanging loosely, explaining to the sea once and again
Suddenly I saw her, And I thought she was a mermaid
Getting out of the water with a glimpse stronger than the magic

When I saw her, my heart beat three times
The drum entered in my head playing with the things inside
When the riq entered in my heart, I fell in love
What could i do? I began to sing

When did the love increase? my heart is between the stars
In the love of your body, many ballads are written
oh my eyes, my lord, how beautiful are the days!
When they gift our hearts a love ..suddenly everything is ok

Suddenly a big fight started inside of me
My brain was reasoning with me while my heart was telling me to tell her
In seconds my heart was the winner
I went to tell her that i am in love

Many months and years pass by and we have never forgot
When I saw you, the love of my life and where
And together we go to tell our tales to the sea
About a love story stonger than the magic

Quote:
Teresa Teng (29 January 1953 – 8 May 1995) was a singer. She was known for her folk songs and extreme voice cracks ballads, such as "When Will You Return?" and "The Moon Represents My Heart".[1] She recorded songs not only in Mandarin but also in Taiwanese,[2] Cantonese,[3] Japanese,[4] Indonesian and English. She also spoke French fluently.

Teng, a longtime sufferer of asthma, died from a severe respiratory attack while on vacation in Thailand in 1995, at the age of 42.

Teng was given state honors at her funeral in Taiwan. President Lee Teng-hui was in attendance among thousands. She was buried in a mountainside tomb at Chin Pao San, a cemetery in Jinshan, New Taipei City (then Taipei County) overlooking the north coast of Taiwan. The grave site features a statue of Teng and a large electronic piano keyboard set in the ground that can be played by visitors who step on the keys. The memorial is often visited by her fans.[13]

The above record was sampled in this record (you can briefly hear the above singer speeded up to sound like a chipmunk at around 4:20).

It's more of a religious chant than song, these are a Kurdish sect group called the Yarsanis, related to Yezidis.

Iraqi anthem By Elissa:

My Homeland
My homeland, my homeland
Glory and beauty, sublimity and splendor
Are in your hills, are in your hills
Life and deliverance, pleasure and hope
Are in your air, are in your air
Will I see you? Will I see you?
Safely comforted and victoriously honored
Safely comforted and victoriously honored
Will I see you in your eminence?
Reaching to the stars, reaching to the stars
My homeland, my homeland

My homeland, my homeland
The youth will not tire, 'till your independence
Or they die, Or they die
We will drink from death, and will not be to our enemies
Like slaves, like slaves
We do not want, we do not want
An eternal humiliation, nor a miserable life
An eternal humiliation, nor a miserable life
We do not want, but we will bring back
Our storied glory, Our storied glory
My homeland, my homeland

My homeland, my homeland
The sword and the pen, not the talk nor the quarrel
Are our symbols, Are our symbols
Our glory and our covenant, and a faithful duty
Moves us, moves us
Our glory, Our glory
Is an honorable cause, and a waving flag
Is an honorable cause, and a waving flag
O, behold you, in your eminence
Victorious over your enemies, victorious over your enemies
My homeland, my homeland

A poem song by Ibn al-Farid (13th-century).

I hid my love inside me until depression shadowed me (has taken over me).

I was about to disappear from the world.

I suppressed this love inside me from myself

If shown, will see a nice hidden cool breeze

say to those who blame me for falling in love

you took so long blaming me because of my feelings

telling me it will kill you, that my feelings toward him will kill me.

so go and experience yourself the unrequited love i have experienced and endured ; then show me if you can still blame me after all ! !

Do not try to stop me
Until you taste the 'taste of love'

If you have tried to love
Then you can try to stop me

If the others are satisfied to meet love in fantasy

To seldom meet my love is never enough, I can't get enough from seeing him.

This band is from the opposite end of the Mediterranean from your home in Lebanon, but they do music with roots in the east by way of both Jewish Klezmer music, and gypsy music. The are "the Barcelona Gypsy Klezmer Orchestra". Here they are a singing "I traveled, I Traveled" composed by a Serbian Gypsy survivor of the Holocaust. Now kind of a rallying song for Roma/Gypsies world over.

Persian Jazz trio - Cold Dream, performing their rendition of Naima, one of my favorite Jazz pieces of all time, composed by John Coltrane, in 1959.
