Is this an obsession or special interest? Or maybe not?

Below is a screenshot of my 4 year old's Youtube session (He already knows how to use a desktop PC and a laptop and navigate YouTube). He LOVES sharks and dinosaurs. But the thing is: He seems to only be interested in watching videos of kids playing with toy sharks and toy dinosaurs and toy reviews. When there's actual documentary-type stuff with real footage and more scientific type videos, he loses interest really fast. This would make it more age-appropriate, right?

Maybe it is just that he prefers the more stylized versions vs the ones that are more realistic; or he likes the pretend play version better than the real life ones b/c it matches something he imagined in his head. I don't think this makes it any less of a special interest.

When my son was really into dinos, he did not like the skeleton/fossil versions b/c they creeped him out. I don't know if that helps or not.

He might not be ready for the “real.” He might be scared of it. He’s only four years old.

Introduce him to what’s “real” a little later.
