Stephen Paddock fired over 1000 rounds, in a ten minute period, from his hotel window in Las Vegas. This injured over 800 people and killed more than 50, at the country music concert nearby.
Yesterday's school shooter killed 17.
Let's dispense with the disingenuous pretense that guns are merely precision metalsmithed artworks for the discerning collector. Symbols of precious freedom.
Guns are weapons, intended for one and only one use. To kill.
And the guns currently favored by our Messrs. Paddock and Cruz and their emulators are specifically designed to kill as many people as possible, as rapidly as possible. That is their entire purpose.
Gun rights advocates need to stop carrying on about how people can choke to death on tapioca pudding, or trip over their own shoelaces and fall and break their necks, and nobody wants to outlaw tapioca or shoelaces do they?
Because if the tapioca is poisoned, or the shoelaces are deliberately replaced with razor wire, you bet your butt that's outlawed. And that's what it would take to make either one even remotely as murderous-by-design as a gun.
