Why do you associate THAT with the 1940's?

Polka music predated the 1940s by centuries.

The Golden Age of Western Animation. Although it began in the late 20's, it pretty much peaked in the 40's.

Jazz and swing music.

Inventions of many items still being used today, like Tupperware, Velcro, the Jeep and even the microwave oven.

Classic toys like Slinky and Frisbee.

The first electronic computer, which looks nothing like a modern computer and filled up a whole room.

Women taking over many jobs because the men had gone to war, but mostly quitting and going back to being housewives when the war ended.

Rationing.

My Mum likes Vera Lynn, she has a few Cd's of her and says it brings back memories of that time when she lived in London during WWII and going down to Devon to live.

That's the type of music that the Germans celebrated with after the war. They wanted to celebrate a more peaceful time ahead.
