Were greaser gangs around in the 1940's?

You know? Those trouble-making teenage boys wearing leather jackets and blue jeans who carried switchblades and had pompadour hairstyles?

They are more associated with the 1950s and the birth of rock'n'roll

I think back in those days the only icecream flavors you had available were chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. Nowadays we have bazillions of different flavors.

I also think of the 1940's as the end of The Great Depression when people started having money and could feed and take care of their families again.

I was born in the 1990's. I wonder how much different things will seem to me when I am your age?

I don't think I can get used to robot servants and foods that come in pill form.

That was the future that we were supposed to be living in ...TODAY in the early 2000's according to the Sixties cartoon show the Jetsons. Robot servants, and food in pill form, flying cars, etc.

Radio shows
Jitterbug
Zoot suits
Boogie Woogie music

Rationing
Road movies

Moe Berg, who was a pro baseball player who also served as a spy during World War II.

He spoke seven languages and may have been on the spectrum.

The advent of television after the war. Television was first invented in the late 1920s but it didn't make much of a positive impression until after WWII.

Two years after the war it was the summer of '47 when two things happened in America: Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in pro baseball by joining the Brooklyn Dodgers, and a private pilot in Idaho saw the first flying saucers.

Douglas MacArthur. My historical figure crush.

If he were alive today and liked men I'd let him do whatever he wanted to me.

Winston Churchill, who may have unwittingly invented the "peace sign."

The original meaning of the "peace sign" was "victory."
