If you had to design your dream house what would it be?

the above property is underground, 1/3 acre with 14.5k cu. ft. with a rambler [house] and painted nature and city scenes on the well-illuminated walls.








if i were richer than dreams of avarice, i'd get this property and live there.

If it has to be a standalone house, it would probably be yet another steel-and-glass box inspired by Mies van der Rohe's Farnsworth House. If it can be part of a larger building, I'd find a glasswall-design Holiday Inn building from the 1960s that hasn't been ruined with postmodernist renovations (example: https://flic.kr/p/5dTVcc ), and I'd buy two adjoining rooms and use one for the kitchen and living room and the other for the bedroom and bathroom.

I'd love a houseboat moored off a large property with enough space for a horse (or ten)! If I won the lottery, that is :') I've always wanted to have a herb garden on a houseboat.

i have since 2008 lived in a vintage single-wide and had no idea that anybody else would find such to be a desirable thing.

If I had to design my dream house, it would be a what you would call log cabin estate in the forests of the Pacific Northwest.



A lot like this, but it would give it a bit more of a what you would call estately vibe to it and add a baroque roof.

i would add an integrated garage to that house. and an observation area for casual astronomy.

I've sometimes thought it would be cool to get a railroad car or two and make them into a home.

What would be really interesting if you had some land with railroad tracks on it that were about to be abandoned would be to buy a couple of railroad cars, rework them into a home, and then pull them down the railroad tracks to your land as soon as the tracks are abandoned but before they can be removed or made unsuitable. If in a wooded area with plenty of wood available for heating and cooking, then a couple of solar panels and batteries might be enough to provide electricity for when it is dark.

a 747 jumbo would make for a metal mansion.

I would really like an indoor trampoline. It would be cool to have a finished basement (with high enough ceilings) where there would be an in-ground trampoline, an area for dancing, and other fun stuff.
