Not to mention to get back on the topic is going to war over WMDs that arent there all that much worse then going to war because we had our base in a foreign country attacked (when they already said they wanted us gone.) Let me put that in perspectative, Germany says that they want us to move our base, we say no we like it right where it is, they attack it, we declare war with them.

Lincoln didn't make up a pack of lies to convince Americans to go to war to preserve the Union. He certainly didn't tell them that the South had a bunch of super-weapons ready to unleash against the North. As I said, there is no comparison.

Saddam was acting guilty, and the Mossad's claim that the weapons were smuggled into Syria haven't been confirmed or debunked yet either. Everyone seems to have overlooked the UN's corruption in this thread. Every UN official (including Annan) that had anything to do with the Oil For Food program was making money off of smuggling oil for Saddam, which Saddam sure didn't use for food for the people. Furthermore, the UN turned a blind eye to misuse of the food. When coalition forces captured Saddam's palaces, they found UNICEF food crates inside. With the UN being so cmplicit in Saddam's buisness operatins, I can't see any reason why the coalition forces don't seize the UN's assets and Put Annan and the otjher co-conspiritors on trial for thieir role in Aiding and Abetting Saddam.

Well, for one we can't because they have diplomatic immunity (ie. if we could do stuff like that, they could put our generals or people like Bush and Rumsfeld on trial for war crimes). As for anyone else in the world, I'm you've probably noticed that they're philosophy on human rights as well as things like this are much different than ours and that they identify us as the problem for disrupting the status quo much quicker than anything or anyone else. Because of that, you can bet that Annan will be there for his full term, probably get a nice retirement package, have all kinds of people from all over the world cheering him on what a great man they think he was, and then he might get a book deal with some leftist publisher over here and make lots of cash. That's just how it is unfortunately, people like him or Clinton just don't seem get theirs.

It's very simple. All Bush would have to do is send the Army and Marines to New York, have the Army esablish a perimiter around the UN facilities so that nobody gets in or out withut autorization, Have the marines enter the grounds and capture any security stationed outdors, they would be held until after the seige and then be informed that they are now unemployed and send them home. To capture the inside of the buiding, set up a CIA paramilitary unit with security jobs at the UN headquarters in advance where they will await orders to capture the security offices during the raid. Additionally a Delta team could repel from a helicopter and gain enterance through the roof of the building while Ranger teams enter from the ground level and secure an area assigned to each respective team. All American employees would be sent home unemployed. All foreign employees, General Assembly, and Security Council members would be escorted to their respective Embassies where they can make their own departure plans. Annan, his associates, and all other parties administering the Oil-for-food program would be captured and turned over to Iraqi custody to face a tribunal. The US State Department would then issue an apology for any inconvenience to their citizens and Diplomatic Representatives created by the seige. All of Annan's, associates, and UN assets and bank accounts would be seized. The UN headquarters and other properties would be auctioned off to the highest bidder and the proceeds from the auction and other assets would be divided equally among the Coalition countries including Iraq. There would be no UN to administer a World Court or to sit around and bicker while the world turns to crap. Thus clearing the way for decisive military intervention when needed.

Or you could just name John Bolton to be our ambassador to the UN.

Actually, atheists made up the majority of the Venturing Crew I was in despite the BSA's policies on advancement. Our unit concluded that pressuring member to give lip service to God was disrespectful to other members of faith. The council overlooked this because the BSA's position on atheism is extremely soft compared to their opposition to homosexuality. Also, your rants about Bush and Republicans remind me of an old friend from Boy Scouts, who happened to be an atheist. :)

Sean, a question for you: Your devotion to the Roman Catholic Church is apparent, as is your pro-war stance in Iraq. How do resolve your views with Pope John Paul's absolute opposition to the war?

Easily. I'm protestant and I don't believe in Palpal infallibility. You must have me mistaken for someone else.

By the way Ed, just noticed your sig at the bottom of that one post - it says a lot. Usually any time people will argue with 10 parts ad hominem to 1 part logic against Bush it usually turns out that their in labor unions, working for a government agency like the post office, or have some vested special interest in the other party. If I had know that about you I probably would have just looked the other way and stayed out of this conversation.

Great idea - and you know what would happen? The EU and the whole world would go on a rampage against us. They'd cut off trade, they'd smash us in their medias, probably be more than glad to stop rounding up terrorists (ie. so long as they're in route to the U.S. rather than doing things on their ground) and they'd be snickering as they watched our country collapse. They envious enough that I really think they'd get off on that.

1. I do not belong to any labor unions.
2. I do not work for a government agency (I was a mailman 30 years ago... does that count?)
3. I am not a Democrat.
4. Your signature invites satire.
5. I have not attacked your character.
6. I am appealing to feelings. Our government has made us an outlaw nation, hated by the rest of the world. Feel that.
